Reviews of books for children studying to Key Stage 1
of the UK National Curriculum.

Welcome to my reviews of books for children who are studying for Key Stage 1 SATs (Statutory Assessment Tasks). These reviews are aimed at parents who are interested in the content and vocabulary of the books that their children will be asked to read, comprehend and interpret at this level. My aim is to provide an outline of the content of the text and a guide for parents on the themes which each text deals with.

I have been a primary school teacher for thirteen years and have administered the SATs from the year that they were first implemented. I have a great deal of knowledge of the books that are used to assess children's levels of ability in reading. I am also familiar with the books that have been used previously in reading tests and therefore know what is required for Key Stage 1.
